Lettermen dressed as brown-skinned na- tives present Hawaiian leis to several girls, not forgetting the traditional kiss. The girls are being recognized for their efforts as sub-chairmen for the Father- Daughter Banquet. Many industrious committees planned this and other Girls' Club activities. i'My Fair Lady was the theme chosen for the Mother Daughter Dessert which featured Miss Washington as guest speaker A gangplank and an elegant chandelier created a memorable riverboat atmosphere for the 65 Tolo Belles n Beaux Larry Anderson and his Combo provided the music for this semi tormal dance Other Girls Club activities included Coke parties mum and candy cane sales a Fircrest Christmas program and a Mr Irresistible Day These events were aided by the publicity committee which used imaginative posters for advertising Another important source of publicity was the new Girls Club news paper The Highland Fling This paper carried feature articles and honored the girl chosen by the Girl of the Month Committee as an outstanding leader The Girls Club which is continually expanding has already begun planning for a Big and Little Sister program to be initiated next fall Lani Waddleton Mss Wash ngton of T964 speaks at the Grls Cl b mother daughter dessert My Fa r Lady Girls Club shows strength of weaker sex Nat ve boys ser e dinner at Moon Ke Ala the Girls Club father daughte banquet P -l

American way of life Christoph speaking about his country. International understanding is developed best through personal relationships. This year Kort Knudson, formerly a Shorecrest junior, exchanged his American home for a Finnish one with Ahti Knapp. Ahti gained many friends at Shorecrest with his easy-going sincerity. The international aspect of Shorecrest s e e m s to increase every year. Two representatives of different world cultures, Gel- den Lulchang and lan Penrose, attended Shorecrest. Gelden ac- quainted Highlanders with the personality of his Tibetan back- ground and lan arrived in the middle of the year from his Australian homeland to learn of American life. The mobile steps are placed at the train door. The cheerleaders raise ci welcome sign high over their headsi and many High- landers wait anxiously for their first impression of the citizen from a foreign country, The Inter-Shore program of Shore- crest completed its first two-way exchange this year. Chris Spiel- berg added his German-accent ed thoughts to many school as- semblies as Pat Patterson intro- duced the American way to stu- dents of Walther R a t h e n a u Schule, Fascinating letters cross- ing the ocean in both directions made it possible for many to share the experiences of two wellereceived strangers in for- eign lands.
