This image may have been true several years ago, but now health students are more likely to be avidly reading from Freud. Their study is divided into three maior areas: mental health, community health, and adult living. The relationship between these areas is emphasized. Sup- plemental reading is encouraged so that the student can research advanced ideas. Helen Pierce, Senior Health Shorecrest trains students for better living Gail Gilbert, Home Economics Thomas Rodrique, Orchestra Two young children are en- gaged in a noisy quarrel over a teddy bear. Calmly the girl in charge settles the tight by inter- esting them in another game. These children are a part of a nursery school conolucted by the home economics class. Other areas covered by the home ec. students are family re- lations, home furnishings, cloth- ing construction, tamily tinance, and meal management and preparation, The obiective is to provide girls with practical skills they will be able to use now and in the future. ,UT proves efficient A student presses the wooden lever and out pops a straw - efficiency. This word describes the kitchen at Shorecrest which serves 600 pupils daily. lt also provides banquet service after school hours to studentand com. munity service groups. The school menus are designed to appeal to teen-agers and hamburger lunches are always served. An ei la carte menu is being planned for the future if space permits. With the custodians the matron is also important in seeing that Shore- crest is always clean and orderly - a place to be proud of.
