The tennis ball plonks hard against the fence and sticks in one of the wicker holes. The fast-moving play stops momen- torily for it to be retrieved. The popularity of tennis is growing in Seattle ond the Shorecrest team has gotten bigger every year. This sport is very grueling os it involves constant move- ment by the two ployers ond matches sometimes last as long os two hours. It is one of the few varsity games in which no substitutions ore allowed, so each ployer must be in top con- dition. Playing singles ond dou- bles motches, the boys gained self-reliance. f,f '5 ':+ T -1-4 J 5 5 f 'g,,- -.5 . QW' r iiiiffif f if Sl Sf! ' 'Sf f ' f N7 Q in -.
