DIQDICATIO For her untiring service to our college, her maintenance of high stand- ards, resourcefulness in initiating new ideas, and her unfailing, sincere in- terest in aiding the students, we, the class of 1959, dedicate our yearbook, with highest esteem, to Dr. Etta C. Skene. Dr. Skene came to Shippensburg in 1942 as Chairman of the Business Educaion Department. Under her leadership, the department has gI'0WI1 from two teachers to six, from 125 students to 3093 from a scanty curricu- lum to one of the best Business Education curricula in the Commonwealth. In July 1959, after the summer pre-session, Dr. Skene will retire. In 1957 she was given the award as wfhe Outstanding Business Educa- tion Teacher in Pennsylvaniaf' She is known throughout the nation for her collaboration in 'Teaching Principles and Procedures for Gregg Short- hand, and her various articles for business education yearbooks, business education quarterlies, and other magazines. Dr. Skene plans to reside in New Jersey, pursue her hobbies, travel, read and perhaps teach. Dr. Skene expresses her philosophy in this way, I know of no better way to help others than to teach, and in retirement I wish to carry along this same philosophyf'

Road Up To Campus At first glance, we see on the opposite page a beautiful tree-lined road, leading to an attractive campus filled with gracious buildings and magnif- icent trees. Look again. This is a road to knowledge and service. Within these buildings we are guided through knowledge into the service of educating our fellow man. A beautiful tree-lined road, yes, but also the road to knowledge and the service of humanity. TABLE OF CONTENTS Dedication Administration and Faculty Summer and Autumn Spring
