I found myself standing on a street that seemed vaguely familiar and nearby was a queerly dressed stranger I went up to him and asked h1m who he was and if he could tell me the name of thlS strange place He said that he was here to gfve me a glimpse of my class mates ard their activitles in 1957 He told me that the street we were standlng on was the one that led to Shipman High School I looked all around and saw that the town that was presumably Shipman had surely grown a lot The stranger seemed to know what I was thinking and told me that in the past tan year Ship man had progressed suprisingly well NBut enough of this,H the stranger said 'I sup pose you w nt to see some of your former c assmates So come with me N The next thing I knew we were entering the office of the high school There at the desk sat a stern looking man who was the principal He was asleep with his feet propped up on the desk As we came closer, I noticed to my surprise that this man look ed much like Gene Willard except for the stern ex pression Finally I asked the stranger who this man was He seemed surprised that I didn't know and told me that it was Gene Willard who had been prin cipal 1n Shipman for several years At this I was astonished and asked if this was some king of a joke Possum, Principal of a nigh school? Pat Hurley made up Mrs. Hurley's mhzd that she shmdd 5 hire both Fritz and Danny at once. Pat's reason for ff such a quick decision was that she had taken a like- , if ing to Danny. Mary, the maid, had made Fritz more ' 1 interested in a job than in stealing the famous Raz- 5 H manoff diamond, which Arthur Hurley purchased while gl in Europe, for a mere sho, ooo, and was to bring back QQ to the states when he returned. ig Danny and Fritz were ex-convicts and Fritz was 3' always using some prison slang which caused much ans V fusion, but in some way or other they always managed 2: .. ip il rl . 3' . Q4 ,I 'Q ll gl to think of something to clear their misguided wrds . Dr. Pratt, Evelyn Hurley's fiancee, and Dale Ter renee, Arthur's fiancee, were ex-husband and wife V and both were planning on marrying into the Hurley 4 millions. Dr. Pratt wanted the diamond and he made V M an agreement with the gardner to help him get it J The gardner was necessary to the plot of the play I Gallager Starling was Pat's friend and Arthur's childhood sweetheart and she still loved him. f ' The play was hilarious when Uncle Jake took a hand in helping find the diamond, which was stolen 1 after Arthur's return home from Europe. Uncle Jake wanted very much to ear or get five dollars and tiny A cents so he could buy the marriage license for Aunt Sue and himself. Aunt Sue would not marry him until T he had saved up enough money. Dr. Pratt and Uncle Jake made a bargain which filled the play with kmghs galore. The detective, and the secretary were helpful in finding the diamond. The cook offered more compli- cations and laughs. In the end the robber and murderer was caught Pat got Danny, Gallager won Arthur back, Fritz got Mary, and Uncle Jake got his five dollars and fifty cents to buy the license and candy for Aunt Sue. 1 CAST Mrsi Hurleyooosoooonooaonongaanooaoooooogtrudy KA widow who has never learned to manage well.3 -III pdf fll'lfllvllJ - . .mn - f , If - ' ' ' . , . ,. -....,- .:.:. 4 ., ,. . 4 :t:z.:L.1.- - , ,.:-...-+...-.-- -. - ..,f-A-.-.-X 3- 1 s,,:1.:aL7.-v. . , V ,fwfr ,. 51 Q g , '. .is-.4-Q A -,A g glgv ,. c... - l- 1 ' . ,. - 8, ,: 3.-L'ZL,', ,.. . -ge c- ','g,' gf':. . - .- , - : . - , ,A ,N l34.44rL,,- gf' ' - ' V 'q N ', ,.,,,,,, ,, . . , - s A- ,,,,.'g,-.- U V- A. -,.-, - f gg 1, , fs ,..f.Mfi-.
