I know nothing so pleasant to the mind as the discovery of anything that is at once new and valuable- nothing.: that so lightens and sweetens toil as the hopeful 'pursuit of such discovery. And how vast and how varied a field is agriculture for such discovery. The mind, already trainedbto thought in the country school or higher school, cannot fail to find there an exhaustless source of enjoyment. livery blade of grass is a study, and to produce two where there was one is both a profit and a pleasure. And not grass aloneg but soils, seeds and seasons, hedges, ditches, and fencesg draining, droughts and irrigation, plowing, hoeing and harrowing, reaping, mowing and threshing, saving crops, pests of crops, diseases of crops, and what will prevent or cure them, implements, utensils and machines, their relative merits, and to improve themg hogs, horses, and cattle, sheep, goats and poultry, trees, shrubs, fruits, plants and Howersg the thousand things of which these are specimens-each a world of study within itselffl -Aaaiuiixm L1Nco1.x The aim of agriculture in our high school is to prepare young men for effective life and service in the vocation of farming. lt comprises the elemental and basic por- tions of the science and art of agriculture found in the best farm practice including crop production, live stock raising, marketing, conservation of soil fertility, proper equipment and operating of a farm as a business enterprise. To meet this need, the following curriculum is followed: lst year-Crops and Soils 2nd year-Animal Husbandry 3rd year-Farm Shop VVork and lfarm lllechanics f f filth iYBiH4-:F34fIl3lf1'lQ0IJ.OI11.l.CS+ f f i i i i i i i Each student is required to follow up each course with a related project on the form in the summer to put into practical use what has been learned in the course of the year. The fact that our school is now classed as a Smith-llughcs School, and receives lfederal aid, puts us on a par with other agricultural schools of the state.
