'llhe 'llennis Cluh was organized the latter part of September. Nlr. Manley had charge of the hoys and Miss lleclc the girls. 'llhe tennis court was retapecl and fixed into pretty good condition. Several heginners started practicing and succeeded in learning how to play. Some very good playing was witnessed during the clulfs practice and the hoys' tournament. 'llhe hoys' tournament was started as soon as most of the hoys were ahle to play, livery night after school two or three sets were played. 'llhe girls and hoys changed otl' playing on the court. 'llhe hoys were given Monday, Xlvednesday and lfriday nights and the girls Fltuesday and 'llhursday nights. Many played Saturday and Sunday. l,eonard Henry and llarolcl llooth held the honors for the highest scores. 'lihere was no tournament among the girls liecause many of them were just learning the game. Home runs and every thing imaginahle took place during their practices. lint. nevertheless many of them progressed. lllennis is a game that every person should learn to play. It is a sport that develops every muscle in the lwdy. Nlalces the mind lceener. Quielaens the eye, steadies nerves and ahove all stimulates wonderful health, Sure eyery one who participated in this sport found it healthful exercise. lr is expected that we shall resume our playing in the spring, Page Fifty-three

A meeting was held October 30th for the election of ollicers. The following were elected: 1J7'E.Yld5 7Zf ...... VIVIAN GRANDY l'icf-Prffzdeazf ....., RUTH VooEL Sfcrffam' and Y'1'eaJ'zuw . . . LILA PooLE The hrst outing was held November 5. Three boats were procured and the party rowed up the river to High Banks. Upon reaching the destination wood was gathered to build a Ere Csilk stockings suffered, not from the hte but briers.j YVhen at last the lire was built, coffee was made, at least it was supposed to be coffee, weiners were roasted Cand flavored with ashesj. Cake and sandwiches made up the greater part of the meal. After everyone had finished his lunch the fire was put out, and the group started back. With much singing and laughter the party reached home about 7:15. November the 12th the club went up river a mile and a half. A small stove was taken along on which hamburger was fried and coffee made. Cake and sandwiches with the addition of water were served. December 5th the club hiked out to the draw bridge. A lunch consisting of salad, sandwiches, olives and roasted marshmallows was enjoyed. At present its members are looking forward to its reorganization the ensuing fall. Page Fifty-four
