f 'A i' ,T t if ii, , . -'-- -'al '-- -L I f'f-f-ff .vi Music Music aims to give us something of which Keats had in mind when he wrote: A thing of beauty is a joy foreverg its loveliness increases it will never pass into nothingness, but still will keep a bower quiet for us, and a sleep full of sweet dreams, and health and quiet breath- ing.', The sincere efforts of the faculty with the cooperation of the students have made it possible for the advancement of music, and also made the community realize that the ability of the students is no longer dormant. Their ability is illustrated in the different organiza- tions, such as: the Orchestra, Girls' Glee Club, and Boys' Glee Club. They have made several public appearances and have been en- couraged greatly by their results. Owing to the way this High School is handicapped without sufficient equipment for Athletics, music has been substituted and found to be soul-stimulating instead of vigorating, but nevertheless, we feel we have attended to one of the most important phases of one's career. One of the phases of High School life, second only to Athletics, is Musicg and through this method High School loyalty and spirit may be developed to nearly as high a standard as Athletics, which has been shown by the support given to Debating and Uratory. livery Tuesday and Thursday, general assembly periods were used for general singing, during which time we sang many popular songs as well as the old familiar songs. Much rivalry was shown between the different organizations in their appearances before the assembly every Wednesday. This helped to create interest and proved to be beneficial as well as enter- taining. JW YM 3 NV M A I Page Fifty one
