Numerous exhibits were displayed and prizes were awarded. The prizes this year were not given in cash, but instead printed ribbons were ordered and each prize was given a certain ribbon as an acknow- ledgement of a place. ln the clay time such activities as stock-judging, judging of the exhibits and track-meet tool: place. 'lihe track-meet was held for the district schools and was taken up with a great deal of enthusiasm and interest. First, second and third prizes were given for standing broad jump, running broad jump, fifty yard dash, hundred yard dash, etc. Although the attendance during the day was very small, the at- tendance in the evening more than made up for the afternoon's loss. A very interesting speech was delivered by our county agent, after which different numbers were given by the different school organiza- tions. A community fair tends to create more interest. both between the farmers and student body as well. It gives the students a better understanding of management as well as an appreciation of' the ad- vantages ofco-operation are developed. ln our attempts to make the community flair a success a great deal of time has been sacrificed but time which we considered to be well spent. Freshmen in one, and Sophomores and juniors in the other. ln the first part ofthe year the girls canned vegetables, fruits. pickles: made jellies and marmalades. Later on they cooked the different vegetables and fruits and also learned the different methods of' preparing food for the table. During this course the girls learned the different ways of serving meals and served meals among themselves. The girls took an active part in the school fair and other activities. They had candy sales and with the money they earned and that which was left over from last year they have fitted up a very cozy rest room. ln the first part ofthe last semester the girls did the sewing re- quired of them and after they had finished this they could sew what ever they wanted for themselves. They also took up a course in ad- vanced problems. In with their sewing they studied some of the textiles and had recitations on them. Some of the textiles they studied are flax and cotton. ln this way they obtained a better knowledge of the diffierent fabrics and also which materials were best for making different articles. .. - , V Jag.
