,I 5 - hg hzoc Page Th irty-two My Old Ford Listen a while and I will tell Vou A story of my old Ford, When once it was so nice and new, And fit to carry a Lord. At first the agents would brag up, The strength of this little car, And the way the big cars are set up, They couIdn't run near so far. And after enough of this pesting I thought I would make up my mind And get that Ford a testing And leave the agents behind. And when the paper was written, That the car belonged to rre, The engine wasn't a Hspittenn But buzzed along like a bee. The body and wheels were a glossy black, The tires looked wonderfully good: There was nothing that looked bad in fact, A good engine was under the hood. The cushions were made of leather The best that ever were madeg They were soft, just like a feather, And guaranteed never to fade. Running it, was the first thing For me to learn you know, And when I was ready my ears didn't ring, I was just afraid to go. Then finally I did get started, And down the road I shotg The engine kicked and snorted, And the radiator sure got hot. I was all by myself just then, And didn't know what to do: Then I saw in front of me a hen, But it didn't take long she Hew. You ought to see that Hivver hop When I got near the city, Though I was in fear of seeing a cop, An then myself would pity. And after a time of this toiling I got her under control, I noticed the radiator was boiling, In the tire was a terrible hole. I started to fix the tire, Giving the engine time to cool: Though it was as hot as fire, And I said, Why did I go like a fool,

WW 6 115.7 Mi ss M C I , I 4 I ,x!!'x,:V,mII'- f1'fiH ,N- x o 20 :til 1,32 - When I got that tire mended And got it back on the rim: I was sitting in my Ford contented But the gas tank looked mighty slim. Before I reached home that night I ran into the ditchg And then my Ford looked an awful sight. I Iooked worse than an angry witch. And when I got up and Iooked around, I discovered the shape it was in, But then I heard a chucking sound, It was the engine in a heap of tin. I thought I would have to leave it there, Until I had more time. I had to be just fair and square Because the fault was mine. Its name soon changed to I.izzy,', Because she was full of dents, This Ford did sure look dizzy, Since it had gone through the fence. I had it Iixed and after that I was a bit more careful: I did not drive as fast as what I did when I was so fearful. The radiator is broken nearly through And can't be fixed no more: The engine misses, hits on two Instead of hitting on four. Its not fit to be seen by a Lord 'Cause there's dents in all the tin, The last I tell you about my 'ForcI , Its a good one for the shape it's in. E. W. Ode to the Freshmen Oh!
