W- .- Vg-T I Q,',g5l.55Hf- RIDING is a favorite activity among many Shimer students. Glengary stables offers excellent facilities and instruction for those interested in this sport. Students learn about the equestrian part of physical activity and have fun at the same time. This year Shimer was honored to have two of its advanced riders, Mary john- son and Sally Wanzer, competing in the International Horse Show in Chicago. Sally took second place in her class, and Mary carried away the high honors at the Town and Country Horse Show pre- vious to the International.

During the fall quarter the student body elected a group of five students to draft a constitution for a STUDENT GOVERNMENT. By means of such a constitution we hope to fulfill our belief that society will most effectively operate on the basis of demo- cratic principles and through representative government. A fuller understanding of our rights and responsibilities may be achieved in this way. I prt 4 l Planning and sponsoring di- verse social functions for the entire campus is the pur- pose of the SOCIAL RECRE- ATION COMMITTEE. Under its direction various activities, ranging from for- mals to skating parties, froth square dances to an artists' ball have made our social life an active one.
