Mrs. B. Hoffman Librarian Driver Education The art of driving has come a long way since the first automobile, with the ever increasing volume of traffic and complex modern highway systems. The Shikellamy driver education team is preparing students to face the challenge. Mr. T. Balestrim Books are one of America’s greatest resources. At Shikellamy, Mrs. Hoffman is eager to help students take advantage of the large collection of books available in our library. Tutorial Assistance Program “Discipline,” according to George Washington, “is the soul of an army.” Discipline also serves as the soul of a school. From the hickory-stick switchings of the one room schoolhouse era, we have progressed to the tutorial assistance program, which puts more emphasis on education than on simple punishment. 29

Health and Physical Education The soldiers of the revolution had to be physically fit. Ever since that time, physical fitness has been an American tradition. This department teaches Shikellamy students to take care of their bodies and take pride in them. 28
