Trackmen demonstrate speed and endurance Some outstanding individual efforts highlighted the eighth grade 1969 track season. Several teams were upset during the year in spite of inconsistent team performance. Sprinter, long-jumper, high-jumper Scotty Silver slashed the old 100-yard dash record of 11.2 seconds set by Baron Hill in 1967 to 10.7 seconds and chopped Baron ' s 7.0 60-yard dash to 6.8 seconds. He went on to reduce the old 220-yard record from 25.0 to 24.2 seconds in individual performances. Now which was it- 10.1 or 13.9 seconds? 58
