STUDENT LIBRARIANS SCHOOL LIBRARIAN, MRS. WITTERS There are fifteen student librarians at Shields Junior High School. Their cheerful and willing efforts enable the library to give a much better quality of service to both teachers and students. Some of their duties consist of taking care of circula- tion, shelving books, helping mend old books, processing new books, and assisting fellow students in locating material. LETTERMEN MR. BECK MR. THOMAS SPONSORS The Shields Junior High Lettermen ' s Club was organized to create and maintain a high regard for the athletic awards of the school, to put a premium on high scholarship and clean sportsmanship, to make possible united effort by the recipients of the athletic honors in the interests of athletics, and to develop and enrich the friendship and fellowship which is the rightful heritage of teammates. Membership in this organization is open to all eighth and ninth grade boys of Shields Junior High School who have been awarded the athletic letter, numerals, or a certificate for their participation in athletics. FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA SPONSOR , MR. LEWIS The Seymour F.F.A. chapter was formed at Seymour in 1929 and was one of the first charter groups organized in Indiana. The F.F.A. is an organization of farm boys enrolled in vocational agriculture for the purposes of developing agricultural leadership, cooperation, and citizenship. Chapter activities include selling concessions at football games, selling garden seeds, and carrying out crop and livestock demonstrations on the school farm. Other chapter activities include crop judging teams, safety contests, and carrying out a community rodent control program.
