SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS FRANIX MATusEK Vrce Preszdent DOROFHY H111 Setretary MILI ARD M1 Klivxox Preszdcnt MAX BOWER Treasurer Senlor Class Hlstory In September of 1943 a group of 97 eager students started the1r freshman year Through earnestness and dxhqence they soon conquered the1r studles and were well represented on the honor roll each mark1ng perlod ln October the sen1ors mmated them 1HtO the soclal lrfe of the school bv holdxnq a Hallovteen dance un the1r honor The male sectxon of the class was very sad when Mr Howell was 1nducted 1nto the Army and the popular shop classes vsere d1s and many freshmen secured pos1t1ons IH 1t The freshles had an opportunxty to d1splay the1r sales abxllty bs selllnq maqazme subscrlptlons They vson pr1z s for themselxes and the pro ceeds were used to purchase band mstruments Several puplls had dropped out of school leav mg the class th a membershlp of 91 students at the end of the freshman year When fall came 87 sophomores returned to reahze the1r freshman dream that of enterlnq the Garrlson Memor1al Hlqh School bulldmq Th Nevt spaoer Club vxas orqan1zed and many sophomores dld therr part to make the School T1mes an mterestlnq and very popular pro duction Thls was also a memorable vear ln Paqc I0 the hlstory of basketball Through Mr Cobb s unt1r1ng efforts S H S secured entrance 1nto the Wyommg Valley Leaque The sophomore class was represented on both the varslty and jumor varsltv teams Not to be outdone 1n that fleld the qxrls also made a flne showmq on the qlrls basketball team Txxo talented sopho mores drsplaved the1r sklll 1s twurlers mn the hlqh school band The sophomore class had dvtmdled down to 78 by une as yumors Th1s year Sh1cksh1nnys enrollment was mcreased by a large number of students from Hunlock Tovx nsh1p The follovt mg class OH'-ICQFS were elected Wllllam Kessler presl dent R1chard Br1dle v1ce presxdent Mary Su dol secretary and Andy Sorber treasurer To fmance the un1or Senlor Prom the class held a dance produced a play called Love Troubles Tommy vxhxch was dxrected by Mr Harvey and plaved a basketball qame vuth the sen1ors ln mhxch the Junxor team emerqed v1ctor1ous The outstandmq event of the year was the lonq awarted Iunlor Senror Prom The banquet vshxch preceded the dancmq vxas held 1n the basement of the Methodxst Church After a O 9 l ' , V K A . .
