THE OLD SCHQOL 1-hgh upon the h1ll top yonder Stands our h1gh school true lt s our dear old Alma Mater Ot the Whlte and Blue The htah chool on the h1ll prat ed tr song and revered 1n memory IS no longer our 1-hgh School but our luntor 1-hgh wtth Mr Thomas as tts prtnctpal The butldtng was erected tn 1912 ana was then used not only as a second ary but al o as an elementary chool stnce tt housed grades 3 to 12 There were not eparate home rooms for grades 9 to 12 All the puptls met 1n one large room tor assembly and then reported to var1ous recttatlon rooms Later 1t was used only for grade 7 to 12 the lower grades betng moved to the Church Street butldtng At that t1mo only two courses were taught Academtc and Commerctal ln 1927 the curnculum ot the 1-hgh School was broadened by the 1ntroduct1on ot general home economtc and mdustnal arts courses Several new sublects fvere added The crowded condmorm tn bu1ld1ng made Mr Garnsons gttt apprectated About the mtddle ot November we moved from the old school on the h1ll to our new Garrtson Memortal Htgh School and our old bulldtng became a Juntor h1gh school houstng grades 5 to 9 Ftve X X I., tt . . 1 .
