ASSEMBLY PROGRAMS Under the ausplces of the very act1ve Everybody Helps Club weekly as semblres have become the rule 1n our school Every Fnday afternoon has found the student body IH the audrtorlum for an assembly conducted by the members ot that club Guest speakers who have appeared at the e assembhes rnclude Attorney Roscoe Smlth of Wrlkes Barre Rev Robert Graham of the local Presbyterran Church and Rev lra Button of Sweet Valley Entertalnlng and mstructlve programs were presented by the Venetran Glass Blowers and by the celebrated p1an1 t Dr Van Zandt Movmg prctures were shown twrce on one occasron by a representatlve of the Pennsylvanla Game Commrsslon to explarn the work belng done by thls Commlsslon 1n con servatron and restocklng and on another cccaslon by a lleutenant ot the U S Recru1t1ng Statlon at Scranton who howed lnterestlng travel prcture deptct mg lrle ln the U S Navy Among the out tandmg programs was that of Aprtl l9 when the Club a1d ed by three prormnent resrdents of the town conducted a constrtutron el1m1na txon contest The purpo e ol thrs p ogram was to select from our 23 competltors two contestant and two alternates to repre ent our school 1n the contest spon sored by the Amerrcan l..eg1on held on May l at lrem Temple rn Wrlkes Barre The wmners of our elrmlnatlon contest were El1zabeth Srmone a sophomore and Angelo Paradrse a freshman The alternates were Earl Barrall IUHIOT and Wrlllarn Robrnson a sophomore The Contest was conducted 1n the man ner of a spellmg bee wrth Mr A W Brown askmg the questrons Rev Robert Graham of the Presbyterran Church act1ng as Judge and Mr l A Gallagher as trmekeeper All the queshons used were ubmltted by students of our school and chosen by a committee of the Everybody Helps Club.
