OUR TEACHERS WERE PREPARED Teachers should be prepared in the fields of their assignments. Although seven new teachers came to Sherwood this year, all were teaching in the areas of their preparation. Because of this, some outstanding classroom work was evident in the various departments. Student body president Alan Brickley fulfilled his duties very competently. Serving as student body officers for the 1958-59 school year were: Norma Oyler, assistant treasurer, Darold Wiedemann, sergeant-at-arms, June Rehwalt, treasurer, Larry Bahns vice president, Alan Brickley, president, Anita Schuldheisz, secretary. STUDENT COUNCIL TAKES VIGOROUS STRIDES TOWARD INTELLIGENT SELF-GOVERNMENT Through the superb leadership of the student body officers and members of student council Sher- wood had a very successful year. It is increasingly apparent that this governing body is becoming bet- ter informed and more able in the matter of han- dling student affairs. While student council meetings often provoke vigorous disagreement among the members, they are stimulated to think, to defend their position if it is strong, to abandon it if it is weak, and to abide by the decision of the group in the democratic process of self-government. Not only must Teachers be able to meet all classroom situations, but they must be able to acliust to the whole school schedule with its in- evitable interruptions and adiustments, at the same time carrying on with the planned instruction.
