Graduating Class of 1956 Diplomas-Symbol of Scholarship On the eve of May 24, forty-six students of the class of 1956, were graduated ,from Sherwood High. The speaker of the evening was Dan W. Poling, Dean of Men, Oregon State College. Pioneering, was the topic of his address. Mr. John B. Gibson, principal, presented special awards and scholarships to members of the graduating class. Reverend Willard Norman gave the invocation and benediction. Mr. Harry Schmeltzer, Chairman of the School Board, presented the diplomas. The senior class sang You'll Never Walk Alone, as their parting song. As a gift to the school the class of '56 donated a new trophy case. They also contributed to the foreign ex- Illligimcifason' D' W' Poling' Mr' Schmehzer' Reverend W change student fund. ' Charlotte Schultz, a happy senior receiving Joan Stewart awards from Mr. Gibson. Valedictorian David Edslrom receiving his award.

They sponsored the basket social, Sadie Hawkins Dance, Junior-Senior Banquet, and Junior Prom. They also had pie sales, and sold coffee and doughnuts at the football games.
