It is found in the quickening of civic pride, the strengthening of community bonds. Sparked by Robin Hood and Hi: Merry Men, it has been fed by other organizations and individuals. And now, it fills the halls, classrooms, gov- ernmental and competitive areas of our school. We have observed the confidence with which our student council has progressed in self- government, we have witnessed a new boldness that has brought a good measure of success to our competitive teams, we have seen the shack- les of tradition broken in the choice of a new mascot, the BOWMENg we have felt the unity of a group bound together in a common inter- est, and we embrace the symbolism of the story of Robin Hood and his men in Sherwood Forest. In keeping with the adventurous spirit of this legendary group, your yearbook staff has dared to present for your approval a new and more appropriate name for this book which has been filled, page by page, with a record of the year's events, even as a bowman, arrow by arrow, fills THE QUIVER. The spirit of working together for the achievement of common goals is the spirit of America. We have been striving for that spirit in our school and community. The group pictures are indicative of cordial relationships among members of the various school organi- zations. The Robin Hood theme of this yearbook is added evidence of a cooperative working together for a common purpose. lf we can maintain that harmony. mam' advan- tages are certain to come to us at the school, and we feel that community oruanizations will share these benefits. Our annual is an important medium for maintaining and cle' veloping this school-community spirit. If we might feel that this has been a good year. none of us can take too Qreat satisfaction from it, for there is yet much work to he done. That, of course. will always be true. but through the cooperative efforts of the school directors. the faculty, the students, the parents. and the community organizations. the necessary jobs will he done. May we look forward to the task of making the coming years better. JOHN B. oIBsoN, Ptvffifzpaz Seated: Floyd Shoop. Clerkg Albert Voss, Fred Anderson. john Burge.
