Student Life at Sherwood Central . . . what a wonderful experience it has been . . . from the first day in September right on through that last hectic day in June. We will never forget the basketball games with their Victory dances in the gymnasium, the science projects, geometry problems, the three minutes between classes and the parties, or those afternoons when just the two of you listened to the latest rock and roll while doing homework or having a snack. Believing that the memories of this year at Sherwood should be embodied in some tangible form, we have sought to bring together within these pages, the visible record of those happy days. Now the staff of the 1958 ECHO would like you to see what a typical school day at Sherwood is like. At 8:20 she is starting her school day as she boards the bus. As she reviews her notes for Chemistry, her pal in- terrupts with, What did you do this weekend? At 8:55 she arrives at school. Attendance is taken in homeroom-announcement about New York Senior Trip. Off to first class, Chemistry. Topic-The Ionization Theory. Chemistry Lab follows-a nitric acid experiment. Fin- gers get stained, but the experiment is proven. Study hall next-prepare for English class. Have to bring an article and sell it to the class. fPublic Speaking in disguisej Into English she goes, carrying her Schick electric shaver. Speeches are taped on the recorder, so let's play it back, and see how she sounded. Does my voice sound like that? Off to gym class. Volleyball-she likes it because it's team play and fun. Lunch at last. Starved? As yearbook editor, she must line up her workers for tonight's session after school. How did you like my speech? What color is your New York suit? Conversation and eating are synonymous. Homemaking Club meets today. Plans are being made for a teacher tea on St. Patrick's Day-refreshments, com- mittees, etc. Tomorrow she practices for the spring concert or songs for graduation. Her favorite song is I Believe. Typing class next-practice on manuscripts and senior thesis. Yearbook deadline is March 13th. Study Hall follows-lay out work for after school meeting of Echo staff. Dismissal-Staff starts to work. Where are the pictures for page 32? Carol, will you type page 35 ? When you finish this page, Flora, will you plan page 35? Are you going to Homer for the sectional tournament Monday night? My cheerleading skirt needs pressing be- fore the game. Bus time--home again. And so another school day has passed-a very typical day for our busy valedictorian at Sherwood Central. Have you enjoyed the day's visit, worked and played hard? Learned something new? Made a new friend? Planned and shared an experience with others? Volunteered information? Acted as a leader? Played on a team? Perhaps then you will be our future valedictorian, Echo editor, or cheerleader, and earn equal credit and honor. Congratulations to our editor and her staff! -+1 if VICE PRINCIPAL - MR. WILLIAM FISHER Our vice principal has been an in- spiring and model leader to whom we owe a great indebtedness for our happi- ness and educational needs which have been fulfilled at Sherwood Central. It was inspiring to see and hear them present Christmas and Spring Concerts. However, all this could not have been accomplished without the untiring efforts and aid of Mrs. Culver, our director. We shall never forget her words of advice, Hold that note, or Soften your endings, which helped to bring the concerts to the peak of perfection. - CHORISTERS 5 K X? 5 . ,..k Q af - NE 9 . , yt V1 Q.
