Sherrard Ends S With a Victory Over Cambridge The 1975-76 Tiger basketball season, although inspiring only a faint hope for much of the season. leaves the coaching staff looking forward to a very bright future. The inexperienced and injury-plagued Tigers started off by dropping the season opener to the state-ranked Riverdale Rams. The team did not taste victory until the third game of the season, a 75-69 victory over Alwood. The hard luck squad's second victory in the 1975 portion of the season was a 46-34 whipping of Pleasant Valley. In the Macomb Holiday Tournament luck didn't sit on the Sherrard side, and the Tigers found themselves saddled with losses to Macomb and Pittsfield. The 30th and final Combelt Tourney found the finals without a SherTard team for the first time in four years. We lost a 54-51 thriller to Cambridge in the open- ing round. w The high point of the regular season had to be the Tigers 50-49 revenge vic- tory over the Cambridge Vikings in the season finale. This victory knocked Cambridge out of a tie for the conference championship. Combining very few seniors with some promising juniors and sophomores, the team provided every opponent with a strong challenge. The teamâs final record, 4-17, might not seem encourag- ing, but the coaching staff, remembering three and sometimes four underclass reg- ulars and some talented sophomores on this year's team, is surely looking forward to the 1976-77 version of the Tiger cag- ers. -Larry Schulte 106 SENIOR PLAYERS Lefi-David Anderson. Two of the losses were to the championship team, Orion. by three points each time. The key to success this season was defense. We held our opponents to an average of less than 50 points a game. What the team lacked in size and experience was well overshadowed by their hustle, g:eat altitude, and sportsmanship. With a fine nucleus of freshmen (who had a season record of 9-1) coming back, we are looking forward to next year. -Dave Swanson d Sportsmanship Sum Up J. V. 108 Row 1 David Presson. With two Seniors like Rod Tolley and Jim Ries, the squad competed well in every meet or relay. The weight men, as a group, did an-mmianding job this year. They scored points in almost alf meets that they attended. With underclassmen like Kevin Minch. Dan Hohl, and Gerald Brown the future prospects in the field events look very good. The outstanding group of the 1975 Sherrard Track squad was our 440 relay team. At about mid-season Marty Fiedler. Jim Ries, Rod Tolley, and Mike Hall began to gel as a unit. They worked hard on exchanges and starts and by the District Meet they had their time down to 45.7-a new school record and a spot in the Illi- nois State Track Meet at Eastern Illinois University at Charleston. -Joel Brunsvold 114 Activities Juniors Top Magazine Gales Upper left: Top Seven Salesmen-Terri Falconer ($179.33), Bobbie Rogers ($141.29), Brent Adams ($273.41), Nora McNichols ($132.92), Kristi Swanson ($197.65), Keith Holdsworth ($221.39), Debbie Anderson ($177.68). 116 Above: Sophomore Magazine Captains-Melanie Anderson.
