The team then won six straight games, including a convincing 68-60 victory over arch-rival Rockridge. After defeating Bushnell-Prairie City in the opening game of the Macomb Holiday Tournament, the Tigers were derailed by another highly regarded and state-ranked team, the Quincy Catholic Raiders. De- spite the loss to Quincy, Kevin Miller was able to tie the single game tournament rebound record with an amazing 22 re- bounds. Kevin was also named to the all- tourney team. Sherrard played in the finals of the Cornbelt Conference Tournament for the third straight year. However, Rockridge avenged their earlier loss to the Tigers by claiming the Tourney Championship by a score of 64-54. The loss to the Rockets in the Con- ference Tourney served to send the ram- paging Tigers off to another lengthy win- ning streak. The Sherrard five ripped off eight straight games and were well on their way to winning the conference championship. One of the highlights of the winning streak was Kevin Miller’s breaking of Dave Miller’s career scoring record. Kevin surpassed the fifteen year old standard of 1,313 points during the Alwood game on January 24th. Sherrard’s final regular season loss came at the hands of the second place Cambridge Vikings. The 73-70 loss to Cambridge was the only black mark on our final conference record of 13 wins and one loss. The Tigers concluded their regular sea- son with a smashing 95-47 win over the Alwood Aces. The 95 points scored by the Tigers established a new school record. The Cornbelt Conference Champions entered Regional Tournament play with a sparkling overall record of 19 wins and 4 losses. 97 —Larry Schulte Desire Is Key to J. V s Success The 1974-75 Frosh-Soph basket- ball team can be summed up in one word, desire. Ever since the first practice, there has been this desire and hustle to achieve team improve- ment. All 26 members have contri- buted greatly to our success. Many times throughout the season we have been down, but these guys just wouldn’t give up. This is the key to why this season has been a very ex- citing and gratifying one for myself and everyone involved. —Dave Swanson J.V. SEASONAL RECORDS Most Points—Buddy Wakefield (305). Our S. A. E. this year has been involved in many new and different activities. Some of our members became teacher’s assistants during their study halls or tutored at the various ele- mentary schools. Others were involved in an- swering questions students raised about school policy. D.C. who is an avid fan of his home town ball team. In a rash moment he murmurs that he’d “sell his soul to see the Washington Senators win the pennant from the damn Yankees.” At this moment the Devil appears and offers to make a deal with him: In return for his soul, he will transform him into a young and unbeat- able ballplayer. The real estate agent agrees but insists on an “escape clause” whereby at a certain date he will be re- stored to his former self. The Devil agrees. The unbelievable new player now called Joe Hardy, joins the Senators, and the team moves right to 2nd place in the League. But Applegate (the Devil) is secretly on the side of the Yankees. Hardy leams this and wants to exercise his “escape clause” and be returned to his former status at the side of his faithful wife. But Applegate employs the services of Lola, a ravishingly beautiful witch to tempt him into staying on the side of the Devil. However, Joe remains true to the wife he left behind. Lola breaks rules and falls in love with Joe. She then aids him in defeating the Devil. The Washington ball club emer- ges victorious and the real estate agent is restored to his wife. The King mistakenly thought the girl could spin straw into gold and ordered her to do so. “Either you spin and become Queen or you don’t and you die,” said the King. The poor girl did not know what to do. Sud- denly a little man appeared and offered to spin gold if she would give him her betrothal chain. When the King saw the gold he demanded more. The little man returned and accom- plished this feat two more times. The third time, however, the Miller’s Daughter had nothing left to give him, so he made her promise that she would give him the first child born to her after she became Queen. She had no choice but to agree. A year later a beautiful child was born and suddenly the dwarf again appeared. The Queen wept bit- terly, and the little man had pity on her. He made a bar- gain that if she could figure out his name she could keep her baby. She surprisingly found out his name and he was so shocked he flew to pieces. The King’s Son and the Queen and their baby lived happily ever after. 143 Above: The Millet’s Daughter cries, “But how can I give you the gift the King’s Son brought me?” Above Right: Karen is assured by the King that he will not leave the baby’s side. Our opportunities are widen- ing and our trends are changing. The concerts are being presented in the new li- brary instead of the gym. The accoustics are better and, in this way, we attain a better sound. For one of our concerts, we now feature a guest soloist. This year it was Roger Collins, a french horn soloist. We now have an increased opportunity to view other fine bands in the area. This gives us a chance to see, hear, and compare. Band members are now enjoying more social ac- tivities. For example, we had a Halloween party last fall and a swimming party last spring. This trend helps give a feeling of unity by bringing us closer together outside of the bandroom. 150 m Marc Baraks Donna Carlson Chris Fiedler David Miller Trish Mueller David Anderson Carel Box Chuck Capan Ron Christian Brad Duty Bill Lipton Pat McKinley Kathy Swanson Pam Tomlinson Rita Allen Greg Baraks Ann Bergstrom Dan Bergstrom Raelene Billups Sheri Brown Denise Erickson Marty Fiedler Dennis Gerleman Karen Gustafson Cheryl Heick Ruth Hergert Ellen Kook Pam Miller Lynn Prosser Cheri Reynolds Darren Rind Gail Adamek Phillip Crandall Debbie Detoy Patty Dixon Dawne Duty Joyce Hajostek Debbie Henry Edie Henry Rhonda Johnson Bruce Lange Brenda McMasters Peter Miller Kris Swanson Kathy Wadsworth Laurie Watson 151 Our Chorus Presents Row 1—Mrs. Waytenick, Patty Welch, Diana Myers, Theresa Fenton, Dinah Young, Jim Buxton, Larry Buckwaltcr, Jan son, Lisa Schurr, Row 2-Dawne Duty, Tina Laktas, Chris Hays, Jill Mintecr, Kim Matter, Laura Huskey, Lonnie VanHook, Doreen Moseley, Brenda Shafer, Pat McKinley, Randy True, Jim Pierson, Greg Wadsworth, Carol Granger, Toni Huskey, Diane Cindy Mosely, Lisa Weber, Carolyn Wangelin, Carole Dawson, Kay Kindclspcrgcr, Bonnie Coyne, Karen Wagoner, Shirenc Theresa Seaburg. 152 a Christmas Choral Pageant Jacobsen, Rae Ann Brandenburg, Doreen Braden, Joyce Floyd, Sue Prcsson, Janet Coyne, Laurie Anderson, Melanie Ander- Kirk Johnson, Jay Pierson, Lori McCanna, Billie Darnell, Row 3—Angie Parker, Debbie Miller, Juanita Daggett, Elaine Harris, Coyne, Laurie Lintner, Jessica Van Arsdale, Joydene Davis, Debbie Peebler, Kim Krahl, Row 4—Colleen Worton, Debbie Seitz, Ricscbieter, Tammy Downey, Kaelyn Rury, Joanne Haysbrook, Dianna Hainline, Robin Reed, Tina Wolfe, Tonya Redpath, 153 Above center: Officers—Carole Dawson, President: Karen Wagoner, Vice- President; Laurie Anderson, Secretary-Treasurer.
