I hate going around with PURPLE FEET!” The Page reads to the American people that a state of war exists between the Duchy of Grand Fenwick and the United States of America. Count Mountjoy frantically screams— “Air raid! Take cover! It’s the Americans! Airraid!” Mrs. Reiner, the housekeeper for Dr. Kokintz, announces that there are three people to see him about the Q-bomb. The soldiers of Grand Fenwick and Will Tatum prepare plans to invade the U. S. and possibly capture the doctor’s Q-bomb. The President and Miss Wilkins have concluded that if Grand Fenwick has seized the Q-bomb, it is the most powerful nation in the world. Helen shows Gloriana a small transistor set with which they are able to tune in the U. S. and learn of their plans for the war. Tully is quite shocked when his mother, Mrs. Bascom, tells him that he must marry Gloriana for the welfare of Grand Fenwick. Tully reports to Gloriana that Grand Fenwick won the war by fighting with longbows, and he has prisoners to prove it. Two of the United States prisoners, Debbie and Jill, scream with horror, as a mouse chases them while they are barefoot. It was the mouse which symbolized the Duchy of Grand Fenwick—the little mouse with the power of a mighty lion. 33 Thunder on Sycamore Street Directed by Miss Susan Newkirk Cast “What’s the matter? Their neighbors aren’t asking why he went to jail. They’re just asking him to leave their supposedly respectable neighborhood. Joe and Anna cannot believe it when Mrs. Carson tells them that their neighbors are going to make them move from Sycamore Street. “Look at him, standing there like he owns the block!” Charlie Denton yells as Joseph Blake comes out to stand on his doorstep. The whole neighborhood has assembled and are ready to force Mr. Blake to leave if necessary. 36 Caroline hugs her father as Mr. Blake blots the wound on his head.
