Rheba thanks Donald for the bottle of flies he brought. “Wilbur C. Henderson. Internal Revenue Department.” It seems Grandpa owes twenty-four years’ back income tax. Here are the young lovers, Alice Sycamore and Mr. Anthony Kirby, Jr., vice-president of Kirby Co. Will their romance survive in spite of family differences? The Grand Duchess Olga Katrina discusses the pro- blems of Russia with Mr. Dc Pinna. “At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they arc mad, the rest of the world is madder.” Dramatists Plays Service, Inc. “1 think if they get married here I’ll put the altar right where the snakes arc. You wouldn’t mind. Grandpa, would you?” “Now look, you’re Fred Astaire, and I’m Ginger Rogers,” ex- plains Essie as she swings Tony. “Just a minute, dearie. Just a minute,” says Gay as she pours herself another drink. “But I was planning such a nice party tomorrow night . . .” explains Alice when the Kirbys arrive unexpectedly. “Mr. Kirby! Arc you hurt?” Kolcnkhov has just demonstrated one of his wrestling holds. Due to several misunderstandings, everyone is arrested, including the Kirbys. Alice then breaks off her engagement with Tony until Grandpa talks some sense into her and Mr. Kirby. 51 Zkc Devil's Disciple Directed by Miss Susan Newkirk The year is 1777. The English colo- nies are rebelling against their mother country. It is a year of resistance and defense of liberty. Richard Dudgeon, the son of a Puritan couple, is one of the leaders of the rebels. For this reason, his family has completely ban- ished him from their home. Thus, we have Richard Dudgeon as the “Devil’s Disciple.” “Father’s dead, too,” announces Christy, the youngest Dudgeon brother, after re- turning from his uncle’s hanging. Carole Crawford . . . The sergeant, having come to Rev. Anderson’s home to arrest him, takes the “Devil’s Disciple” by mistake. Judith begs Richard to let her be present at the trial. The chaplain tries to console the convicted man but Richard recites the Fifth Commandment, “Thou shalt not kill.” “You oatmeal-faced dog, I’d twist your cursed head off with the greatest satisfaction,” yells Richard to the insulted Major Swindon. The “Devil’s Disciple and Rev. Anderson shake hands as they assume their new roles of Rev. Richard Dudgeon and Captain Anthony Anderson. “History, sir, will tell lies as usual.” The soldiers snicker as Richard makes a reference to “Gentlemanly Johnny,” the British General Burgoync. Drama Club President—Wayne Sloan Vice President—Cindy Ycatcr Secrctary-Lynn Harkey Treasurer-Don Lulow Sergeant At Arms Mike McCubbin Drama Club has limited stage facilities with which to work, yet they present at least two plays every year. In addition to the traditional class plays, the pace was changed to an all school play. Drama members learn not only acting methods and how to portray a character, but also the basic functions of the stage, lighting, and the relation of the actor to the audience. Sherrard was unde- feated in dual and triangular meets. We placed 2nd behind the very strong Princeton team in the Davenport Relays. We placed 3rd and 4th in the Atkinson and Galva Relays respectively. The biggest disappointment of the season came when we placed sec- ond behind Alwood in the Varsity Cornbelt Conference Meet.
