Now for one of the lug attracuons of the year our jumor Play Cast presenrrng 'Tattletale duected by Mrs Trotter It was a blg hrt and sure lncreased our feedbag Ims Hergert rs crowned Courtesy Queen and we Junrors are thrrlled to see Ixus wm the honorable award And now last but certamly not least of our actlvxtles for the junnor year comes the junror- Senror Prom lrlte we mentloned before Thrs IS the hrghhght of the race It rs a brg ,ob decoratlng the gym but everyone raced rn to help That mght the Prom started off wzth drnner served by the freshmen and sophomores who drd a fme job Then came the program and best of all, dancmg to hell Wh1tes1de's Orchestra Everytlung turned out fme Thrs ends all the partres for the Jumor year The last day IS here and we are checkrng rn our books for the next three months Today rs a day when we have a lot of fun and do a lot of just horsmg around SENIOR YEAR THE HOMESTRETCH Now startrng thrs school year of S4 and 55 we are roundxng the turn and startrng on our To see that we are seated flrmly rn the saddle and ready for the last leg of our race, Mr Duane Gregory and Mr Lawrence junchen as ur sponsors are rxght at our heads holdrng the brrdle for we are already champmg at the bxt But we are a hard bunch to hold so to help our we elected the followmg class offrcers Donald Young Presrdent B111 Loonus Vrce presrdent Carol Fredell Secretary Darryl Wxlson Treasurer Then to keep us all headed rn the nght dlrectron we elected three of our ablest for the Student Councll Gary Mont gomery Presrdent Rose Mary McCarty Sec retary and Allen Stegemann It looks as lf we have a pretty good start for tlus last leg of our race but yust to make rt a lrttle more excntmg we get lnto hlgh splrxts by havxng a good old fashioned hayrack rrde By thls tlme we are beglnnrng to become exclted about our comrng photofmzsh and graduation dnplomas so we make our appomt ments for Semor pxctures What fun Thrs means a day away from the 'stalls and a chance to luck up our heels That event rs a pleasmg jump ahead and there rs lots more to come But wart' Ahead are obstacles' What are we gorng to use as currency for that brg event the Semor trxp rn May? FRFSHMAN YEAR THEY RE OFF The call to the track has been sounded, you cannot mrstake rt CThey even send you a card to make surelj So wrth a feelrng of fnght rn our hearts, we mount up, fthe school bush and rrde to the track where we w1ll spend four years rn one of the most rmportant races of our llves As we approach the startmg gate, we are handed a pencrl a test booklet, and an answer sheet and are told we are goxng to be werghed Because we are so large a group we are drvrded mto two groups, x and y The letters X and y mean nothmg, but Ob' the classes attached' After blrndly stumblmg around and many trmes enterrng the wrong stall we are ready to begm the bln race They re Off' and dns rs the 'me up Sharon Roberts Presrdent Allen Stegemann Vrce- presrdent Darryl Wrlson Secretary Treasurer Our sponsors are Mrs Trotter and Mr Reakes. After a start lrke that xt was thought nothrng could stop us, but we hadnt counted on the Imtratron Party As rf we weren t bewrldered enough already the Semors mformed us we would have to abandon our usual manner of dress and don garments that were anythrng but becomrng to us fCucumber necklaces, were just not our style I However, we lrved through the ordeal and now we look back on rt as a trme of fun Feelrng that the rest of the race would be easy, we planned a lnttle fun Thrs was brought about rn the form of a hayrack nde After the hayrack rrde, there was our frrst Homecomrng We chose Norma Hutchrnson as our attendant Our float, 'Frghtxng our Way to Vrctory drdn t place but we weren t drscouraged for we were yust begmmng to get the feel of the track Now as we approach the frrst turn june rs here and we frnd ourselves wrth three months of lersure trme the curse of the Semors passed and the name 'Freshman' only a memory SOPHOMORE YEAR FIRST TURN On the frrst turn we have as our sponsors Mt A Kmg and Mr Callaway Those rn the lead are Patsy Dunlap, Presndent Don Young Vrce presrdent Terry Brown, Secretary Treasurer Rose Mary McCarty and Allen Stegemann are on the Student Councrl As we enter the turn we gam speed wxth a hayrack rrde We have done qurte well at the Homecomrng thas year Our float 'Beat the Pants off Atkxnson has placed thrrd Sharon Mtller was the queen attendant from our class After the ctossmg of frrst semester hurdles we held a bake sale at the Frrst Natronal Bank rn Rock Island We became S30 rxcher from thrs dt s about mme we made some money those juniors are way ahead of us, and we can t allow that'l In Aprrl we had a dance at whrch joel Cooper s orchestra played Thrs netted us a small purse As we head out of the turn and tnto the back stretch we look forward to a three month breathrnz spell JUNIOR YEAR THE BACKSTRETCH And now comes the backstretch our junrot year Thrs year rs our hardest It started off wrth a class meetmg and electron of offrcers Our sponsors are Mrss Swrtzer and M' A Krng Our offrcers are Darryl Wrlson, Presrdent Allen Stegemann, Vrce presrdent Rose Mary McCarty, Secretary Treasurer The Student Councrl gomery Startmg off the backstretch comes our bng hayrack nde and werner roast at Shertard Lake All durrng thrs year we are runmng the re freshmeat stand and Lost and Found Department to make money for our class feedbag Mr A Krng came up wrth an excellent rdea So that we could sell pop corn at the games we bought a good used pop corn machrne For once we really used our heads even rf we drdn t use a lot of corn That feedbag of ours IS begmmng to take on a lrttle weight, but we strll have a long way to go Later on comes the brg event Homecommg wxth our float Cut Therr Lme entered rn the parade The Juruors spotlxghted for thrs occasron are Rose Mary McCarty queen attend ant and Gary Montgomery kmg attendant Thrs rs where we make a brg haul selhng pom-poms corsages, and refreshments A few months later we have our bake sale to make more money for the Prom d6C0ra!10rlS Wrth the Prom commg up our feedbag wrll sprmg a pretty brg leak just so we can catch rt before rt rs completely empty Oh boy' Today IS the day we order our class nngs Everyone rs prancmg around, exerted as at the frrst day of school 9 u 4 . . , . ,, . . . . . . , . . , , ' - 1 I ' u , n s , ' , D A .
