Wright, Treasurerg Mr. Gregory, Soil Conservation Winners On the evening of February 18, prizes were awarded to the winners of the Soil Conservation Contest. The three winners from Sherrard were: Don Young, first placeg Bob Quaintance, second place: and Dick Mclwleekan, third place.j Don Young received a trip to Wisconsin as part of his award. All three boys received trophies. On November 6 another Soil Conservation Con- test was startedg all of the boys had hoped to win first place. The annual Father and Son Banquet was held March 16 at the High School. Pictures of proj- ects and the contest farm were shown., There was also a very nice program with musical numbers and talks. Arlin Neumann, Mardyne Davis, Francis McManus, Dick Mchleekan, and Mr. Gregory attended a Soil Conservation Contest near Orion on April 24. All four of the boys received a trip to LaCrosse, Wisconsin where many interesting and educational things were seen. The trip was started May 7 at 6 a.m. from the Moline Dispatch Building. The boys retumed about 6:30 p.m. on May 8. On june 15 the judging teams left for Cham- paign to compete in a judging contest.j Four teams were talren,one in Fatstock, one in Dairy, Trip to Wisconsin one in Grain, and one in Poultry. The members of the teams were as follows: Dairy Team - Bill Anderson, Sam Hutch- inson, Wayne Coyne. Fatstock Team - Bob Quaintance, Fran- cis McManus, Ronald Christensen. Poultry Team - Don Anderson, Rex Mclntire. july 27 was a busy day for the boys that were showing animals at the Vocational Agricultural Fair at Stronghurst, Our members also partici- pated in other fairs during the summer.Q The premium money won was as follows: Stronghurst Ag. Show: 8101.00 Henderson County: 238.00 Rock Island County: 308.00 Grand Total 3647.00 On October 28 the 'Ag' boys served the Nloth- er and Daughter Banquet at the High School.
