These were by Mrs. Sarah Smith and were advanced in Ethel Woods, and Miss Laura Stewart who train us in the fundamentals we needed to cation. The first assault upon the problems band of vorwit Freshman came in the fall of 1941 started in the fall inducted into the first grade rank by Miss Amy Bryan, Mrs. were very well qualified to carry on our high school edu- ef high school confronting a of 1937, as 57 pupils gath- ered at the portals of our beloved high school equipped with eight years of grammer school training and experience. With the courage that had always been characteristic of our group we soon mastered this new situation. Advancing through the new subject matter of the fresh- man year we soon were able to settle down into a new routine. In add- ition te the success in academics we marched into the new territory of sports, music, literary, and dramatics. 'With the coming of spring we were soon rushed into the Sophomore year, a more experienced crew. By autumn we had lost the verdancy which characterized us as fresh recruits. Our success and our achievements were new more con' sistont. In addition to performing the functions enjoyed in the freshman year, we received many committee assignments and were able to envision the greatest responsibilities of leadership and membership, that were to befall us as Juniors and Seniors. We assumed responsibf- ility in scholarship, activities, sports , and social functions as Juniors. Tradition declared it to be our duty to banquet the Seniors and our friends the faculty. We assumed a new role in dramatics as we successfully took parts in the all-school pageant, directed by Miss Speer. During the class night exercises of the class of 1940 we were presented the Pick of the Class of 1940 which we accepted as a symbol of these responsibilities, the hard work, and the loyalty that would be required of us when we became Seniors. Members of the Class of 1940 were correct in predicting that the class history was to come during the Senior responsibilities of the Senior Play, student Frelic, the editing of the Blue and White, and activities. During this year the boys of the the opportunity to introduce six-man football, and that fact alone made us happy as well as proud of the boys who did so well. We were not negligent in basketball and track and in all onde vers we did our best. 'Ie have emul ted the Class of 1940 and its first post commencement tour, by going one stop further. To the Class of 1941 goes the credit and glory of publishing the first school annual. As we conclude the last chapter in this , our High School History, we are looking earnestly Cyos, sincerely to the chapters that we as individuals shall write in the future. There are great responsibil- biggost chapter in our year. It came with the qoouneil, the Barn Dance the commencement-season 'Senior class were given society, our citizenship.
