At precisely 7:01 the lightning studded sky loosed a voltage packed bolt that struck the transformer bringing total darkness to the windowless middle school. The students were kept on the buses so that, it is said, they would not let the darkness out, Eventually everybody was sent home for an unexpected holiday. This was the beginning of a year which was interrupted by a succession of ice and snow days. lt got so that the slightest hint of snow produced excited anticipa- tion of yet another holiday. A thousand Bronchos would awaken extra early, peer out the window at the Siberian scene, tune the radio to the school cancellations and listen intently as the announcer rattled the names of schools in alphabetical order. Enjoy your moment of glory Bronchos because never again wil there be a Free Day. The new state law requires that all unscheduled days-off must be made up during the current school year. The acquisition of knowledge is gained through the efforts, dedication and teaching skills of the faculty. This statement is something the entire school district can be proud of for their efforts over the past few years. We've been able to offer more basic programs as well as continue our exploratory elective classes. Student life is back on track as well. Mr. Carlo and Mr. Veltman are sponsoring the computer club. Mr. Blazier again sponsored an intramural arm wrestling and table ten- nis tournament. We also added freshman volleyball for girls. Dances are being held monthly with the ninth grade again having their exit dance. Finally, a major change this year has been that ninth grade courses now count as credit for graduation from Holly High School.
