More impor- tantly it represents spirit, loyalty and dedication. As seniors, we have spent four long years at Sherman High. Now all we have is memories to look back on. We hope the 1987 Athenian will be as special to you as it is to us. emlenta The juniors have one last year to make their mark, while the sophomores will look forward to be- ing upperclassmen. Dear Bearcats, As we travel farther and farther down the highway of life, the memories from the past take on greater meaning for all of us. It's my desire, as you look back on your years at Sherman High School, that the memories will be good ones. I sincerely hope you will feel that you have had a positive experience, that you built lasting friendships, and that you developed character traits that have served you well throughout your life. It was my pleasure to be your principal this year, and since it was my first year, it will have a special meaning for me as I hope it will for you. 1nlA' -2'-:- 5,15 Tommy Hudspeth, principal at Sherman High, was the victim of a well-planned kidnapping. Mr. Hudspeth was sitting in his office when three armed villains entered, demanding that he go silently with 4fOpening them. He was then masked and led to a car. Mr. Hudspeth, terrified and shaken, was taken to the home of the student-body president, Jean Avard. Mr. Hudspeth was unmasked where he discovered he was ata par- ty in his honor as the new SHS prin- cipal. The villains were forced to eat cake and ice-cream and were releas- ed on the promise that the 1986-87 school year would be the best ever.
