A Secretary's Job Isn't Easy Within the confines of the office, the clatter of typewriters betray the diligence at which the secretaries once again attack a hectic day. The secretaries must face a rigorous routine of counting absentees, writing yellow slips, scheduling Parent-Teacher conferences, enrolling new students, typ- ing, filing, and, of course, answering the telephone. Without the secretaries to help the SHS faculty and students, the daily routine at Sherman High School would turn from hectic to disasterous. As Nancy Carlson, senior, said, The secretaries are wonderful people. The school would fall apart without them. if Counseling of the Counselors The counselors serve a very important role in our school. Their job is to find the right courses for the students here at S.H.S. Counselors also provide classes without personality conflicts with the teachers to influence a better learning environment. Our counselors get the new students of our school acquainted with other students, teachers, and other new school surroundings. The counselors have a special way of taking time to know each student assigned to them. They make the students problems theirs and together they hope to solve them. The compassion of the counselors have helped many students through troubled times in school. The student body of Sherman High highly value the counselors of our school. Go Away! You're disturbing my class! Faculty: Key to SHS Success As students, we seldom realize the great responsibility and hardship that rests on the shoulders of our teachers. Long after we've all gone our separate ways when that last bell rings, the teachers are still hard at work to insure that our next day will go as smoothly as possible. Yet the job seldom ends with the tasks of everyday life Clectures, grading papers, etc.J. Added to these are the various chores of coaching, club spon- soring, chaperoning, and the all time favorite - cafeteria and hall duty. Some of our faculty members also are involved in activities such as pep rallies. When asked what they most looked forward to each year, the most fre- quent response among the faculty was summer. It seems that we do have something in common after all. Faculty 1 19
