At that time Sher- man was named the Little Athens of North Texas. The community was widely known for its cultural, architectural, and educational achievements and was so named Little Athens because it was in the Grecian city of Athens that art, culture, and education first started. For this reason, the first volume of our yearbook was titled the ATHENIAN. It has since remained the same for the past sixty-four volumes. 1
