From Funda- mentals to Pre-Calculus, students are encour- aged to develop math skills. A successful math team is open to all students who are eligible and interested. The team com- petes with other schools in North Texas. Math is a part of life and we use it everydayg the Math Department is working to make it enjoyable and worthwhile. , I XF , 1. Stop the press stories are few and far between at SHS but making news readable and interesting is part of thejournalist's training. First year students study adver- tising techniques, reporting, and layout design. Students also had the opportunity to spend one day working with professionals of local media. 1. Julie Adams adds her talents to the pep 'ally. For the students involved in this department music is a method of expression. Orchestra, choir, and band make students know their sharps and flats. The band and orchestra has combined to form a small full orchestra. The band also marches to support the Bearcats and perform concerts in the winter and spring. ln harmony with the whole idea of music, the choirs work to perfect choral techniques. They perform several concerts throughout the year and provide entertainment for assemblies. Department
