Whether it's defining vocabulary words or reading a novel, the SHS English department presents a chal- lenging year to motivate students. Grammar and com- position are covered as well as different forms of litera- ture. Students jump from participles to predicate adjectives and from Great Expectations to Beowolf. Everyone is required to take English, and Seniors are allowed to choose between regular, Advanced Place- ment, or College English. Though not always the favor- ite subject, English is very beneficial to a student, and proper speaking habits are carried over into everyday usage. So, why not relax and try to enjoy English? You might even find yourself learning something. 3 1. Wylene Calkins, Sherry Fountain, and David Gripp look at old-English dress on Mrs. Hilda Ramsey's Shakespearian model. 2.
