The Business Department consists of Typing, Shorthand, Gen- eral Business, Accounting, Record Keeping, and Business Law. These classes are designed to help students who plan to work in a business related field. They are also beneficial to college-bound stu- dents in that they teach them how to manage money. Most of what is taught in these courses can easily be applied to everyday work, If you someday plan on minding your own business, this might just be the department to consider. 1. ..-- 6 MW' t 1 2 ,. 'S Someone once said that a picture is worth a thousand words. The art students at SHS believe this statement and hold it to its worth. With the help of three skillful instructors, students experi- ment with painting, charcoals, tempra, ink drawings and many other facets of art. This enables each individual to express his or her creative ability through sketches and drawings. Many of the students pictures are displayed during the year and some are even submitted for printing in the yearbook. Many of the artists who enjoy their work participate further by joining the Art League. It doesn't take a professional to draw, just someone with a genuine interest and a steady hand. lf Art agrees with you, maybe you should agree to Art! 1. Shalon Overturf smiles as she looks over her painting. 2. Nancy Pickens cuts stained glass for her art project. 3. Kim Scott compares her drawing to the original. 4. fb The Drama department has really gotten its act together. Students in the Speech and Drama classes learn to become familiar with public speaking, and perform dramatic monologues and dialogues through- out the school year. The Speech class is geared toward helping students resolve shyness and learn proper speaking habits. il' F of Drama students become familiar with different styles of acting and read selection from Ancient Greek to Twentieth Century pla wrights. They also learn to develop individual techi que and improve voice quality. Anyone can put on an act, but it takes a dei cated actor to win favor of the audience.
