f Q 35- gpm WH-W-fa-rr,-,,,,. Seminar Helps to Broaden Knowledge For the first time the Cosmetology department of Sherman High School attended a three day seminar at Grayson County Junior College. During the seminar, students viewed films and saw demonstrations on facial cosmetics, and basic hair cutting. This year 26 juniors and seniors are enrolled in cos- metology. During the two year, three hour a day course students learn about hair styling, applying cosmetics, and manicures. Concerning Cosmetology, senior, Karen Knowles commented, I took cosmetology because l plan to go into a cosmetic field. 1. Kim Lakey styling a patron's hair. 2. VOCATIONAL OFFICE EDUCATION 'S-.... 1. Secretarial Work Appealing to Students Vocational Office Education is available to juniors and sen- iors at Sherman High School. V.O.E., secretarial, and filing skills are used. Two classes of pre-lab and two classes for co-op students are offered. To break the monotony of routine work, classes partici- pated in field trips to banks, industries, County offices, and other interesting places. Junior Karen Brewer, enrolled in V.O.E. because it helps 'lprepare you for a job when you graduate. Jennifer White, junior, also commented she took the course because it is fun and offers a lot of different things. 1. Jackie Hicks corrects error on a legal typing paper. 2. Peggy Dodd works at Sherman Radiologists, her training station. 3. Karen Crawford completes files at Adami 8.4 Keller Associates. 4. Karla Parr does a practice set in record keeping. 5. DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION Marketing Careers Enhance Educauon The Distributive Education course at Sherman High School offered students a chance to work in marketing occupations while they learned the necessary subjects to graduate. Grades ten through twelve were eligible to enroll in D.E. Sophomore students took part in pre-employment lab and juniors and seniors par- ticipated inthe Co-op program. , 'ATO earn money to get out of school early, and to buy a car are the reasons that junior Carla Southerland took D.E. Scott Holcomb stated that he took the class early to earn enough money to get a car and to get experience in working conditions.
