PUBLICATIONS STAFF Pubhcattons Undergo Changes Trying to establish a reputation in their own right, fWe will be out on time this year and the Athenian will be differentj the Athenian staff tempted to uti- lize all open space on pages. More pictures, more community coverage, more creative design and more copy was added giving each aspect of campus life equal representation. Numerous hours beyond the normal school day were spent to assure meeting all deadlines. Due to the seriousness of the Athenians, many responsibilities that includes completing sections, good attitudes, working together, and giving up many nights and weekends were expected from staff members. Perhaps Judy Adair, senior editor-in-chief, best summed up the feelings of all staff members, l don't know why l took Journalism ll, besides being time consuming, discouraging and hardwork, it's a pain. l don't think people realize how much work goes into the publishing of a yearbook. But seeing the pages you designed and the stories you wrote, published in a book that people will always cherish makes the whole thing rewarding. r-- 1. PUBLICATIONS Pubhcatlons Offer Hardworkg 0 Personal Sattsfactlon A Being on staff may be a lot of fun, hard work and personal satisfaction, but l know we all spend a great deal of time at the Community Brick Wall stated junior John Hill when asked about the work of Publications staff. Working with a self supporting budget of approxi- mately S24,500, the Publications staff busied itself with selling 1,650 books and 60 pages of ads to pay for the 1979 Athenian. Seeming to be at a monumentous project staffers sweated over deadlines, ad sells, mail outs, identi' fied pictures, carried cameras as if they were appendages, turned rooms upside down looking for lost copy, banged their heads against the Commu- nity Brick Wall and found themselves taking up room and board in A133.
