Mize was elected to Mr. Halls place, for which he was not a candidate, When the Board was re-organized following the election, Mr. Skaggs was re-elected president and Mr. Chase was elected vice-president. SUPERINTENDENT Mr. Byron Davis, superintendent, explains the architect's drawing of the new senior high school to Sim Homeroom representatives: J ack Henderson, Jimmy Higgins, Ardell Ingram, Susanne Sewell, Rita Stewart, Clara Brueggemcyer, Jimmy Robinson, and Fred Kurrus. 4' After having serx ed Sherman High School as principal for fifteen years, Mr. Davis was elected superintendent of the Sher- man Schools in 1953. SHS students have appreciated Mr. Davis' frequent visits to assemblies during 1954 as evidence of his real interest in the school of which he was a part. Page Seven PRINCIPAL Coach Sory became assistant principal ol' Sherman High School in 1952 and principal in 1953. Mr. Sory had previously been physical education and general business teacher in the High School before he became one of the administrative staff. Coach will forever be part of his name in remembrance of the high caliber basketball teams which he produced. Donna Roman, Jerry Paul Higgins, and Elaine Russell take time out from Athenian duties to listen to Mr. Sory's explanation of Where the Publications Office will be in the new senior high school building. In 1950, the Student Council sponsored Friendly Week, which was climaxed by the election of the Most Friendly Girl and Boy, who were presented to the student body at an all-school dance. Since that time, Friendly Week, the election, and the dance have become annual events: thus, the Student Council has helped to make Sherman High School a more friendly and happy school and one with outstanding spirit.
