M r. Byron Davis Every school must have its freshman class, and we had our turn in 1931. Today We feel quite proud of the record we have made in the four years since that time. We have long looked forward to the time when We should be seniors-the class of 1934-and as such we believe we have contributed much to school life. Seniors have taken part in every school activity. Under the leader- ship of Mr. Davis, our enthusiastic sponsor, and Jim McDougal, our hard-Working president, We have endeavored to attain our goals. The football captains, Frank Guzick and Marion Muse, as Well as the ma- jority of the l0lt4'l'Il10ll, were nienibers of the Senior Class. llvm- were equally well 1'C'I1l'l'SOflt01l in basketball and track. Decided preference for seniors was shown in the selection of club presidents. Among those holding major offices were Joe Hight, Student body and Hi-Y president, Euna Mae Hill, What Next president, Jane Patton, Scholarship club president, and John Lee Marshall, Representa- tive Council president. As usual the two publications were edited by seniors. Many seniors Worked with zeal to represent Sherman High in the Interscholastic League contests. For the first time, two senior plays were given, both with unusual success. The Senior Carnival was an outstand- ing event of the year. It is needless to say that We have enjoyed this year, the goal of our entire school career. It has been full of pleasant associations with both teachers and friends. M iss Clara Joe Brown The members of the Junior Class of this year have maintained the high standard set when they were freshmen and are very proud of their class for its outstanding work in making the school a success. The class of '35 has been represented in many activities of school life this year. Many of the names appearing on the Honor Roll each six weeks period were those of juniors. In the Spanish and Latin clubs, our class is represented as well as in the Choral and Glee clubs. We also have some Future Farmers and some Home Economics club girls who will especial- ly serve the World in the future. Our class has not been less prominent in the most interesting activi- ties of the school-wfootball. basketball. and track. Some of the best Beareats. Bearketts, and Bcarkittens are members of the Junior Class. In the Junior Class there is dramatic talent as well as that displayed in the other activities. The juniors displayed their best dramatic talent in the play, Shavings. On this same program the Choral and Glee clubs also appeared. Along the same line. the juniors presented an unusual pro,qran1 in assembly during Book xXYC'0li on Books That Live. Our class has many clear thinkers such as are needed for the debate team. One of the boys on the first debating team is a member of the Junior Class. This same type of students is found among the spellers, essay writers, and the contestants in the other events in which our school participates. Their main purpose in these efforts is to honor our school as much as possible. In the band we have many representatives who are making the school a success in a musical way. Considering the Junior Class as a whole, We find that in many re- spects it can not be excelled. We are proud of our class this year and hope that we shall be able to do much more for the school in our senior year than We have in the past. To Sherman High and the Class of '35l -Helen Orr, '35. The sophomores were well represented in the extra-curricular activ- ities of the school. We had several girls on the basketball team and a large number of boys on the Bearkitten team, who will compose the greater part of the school's football squad next term. Two of our mem- bers lettered this year, one having been elected captain forthe coming year 1934. We had a good representation in the numerous clubs, also, and made a remarkable showing in the popularity contest sponsored by the Ath- enian. Our representatives were among the most outstanding members of the school and we are proud of them, indeed. The play, Two Crooks and a Lady, which the sophomores pre- sented in chapel was most enjoyable. It was directed by Mrs. Washam, the sponsor ofthe Sophomore Class.
