Pam Avant said that she had to ask Mr. Brown to help her find her first period class be- cause she didn't know where it was. Chase Coleman said, I didn't know where my classes were and l was scared that the upperclass- men would pick on me when I was trying to find them. Lisa Forte said that the only bad thing about her first day at SHS was that her first class was in the sen- lor hall. Other than that, she said, it was pretty easy. The first day of school brings about many different feelings. There is fear among Freshmen and new students because they have no idea where their classes are. There is glee and happiness for the folks who are seeing their friends again for the first time in three months. Dlsgust is present in the hearts and minds of those who were 'having too much fun to come back to school.' For the Seniors, there is a tinge of sad- ness because it is their last first fs? I 2, f gfk i zgk., as .:, 5 day of high school. After the classes go to their des- ignated places and receive their schedules Qllke Kim Baxley, Missy Barnes, and Rhonda Vance are do- ingl, you see friends exchanging schedules, comparing them to see if they have for don't have?l any classes together. There is groaning in the air as the bell rings and 'the door is unlocked' to a new year. This book gives us A LOOK ON THE INSIDE of this year. e 4 fl 3 x Y X ggi Jil' , , --WR,,:wWf 'WLS ww W .l 'Q A , WW Wm A ,mf STUDE T LIFE U.fV'3fl Qowv UDVJ LLL TTQVLLQQVL PA JQJNQ kiwi? Our win-loss record does not indicate it, but we made many positive gains. This season was filled with much misfortune due to many injuries that devastated our potential as a football team. I am proud of the attitude with which our team accepted this and continued to play with good competitive effort. I hope these young men have gained something positive from partici- pating in our football program that will help them be better individuals and better young men in their future endeavors. -Coach McMurry Craig Cole races past Lakeside's tough defense. Y WU mv f7 f J. 80 SHS JACKETTEERS The members of the Jacketteers know that hard practice pays off. In its fourth year of existance the Jacketeers are as great as ever. At the end of last year the Jacketeers won sweepstakes at State Contest in Russellville. They do many things in their year around prepara- tion for contest. This year they went to winter camp at NLR Ole Main where they received 36 su- perior and 2 excellent individual ratings. Each sum- mer the Jacketeers work with a private choreo- grapher from Texas, Lynn Archer. The Jacketeers are trying to work with more band arrangements of songs selected in order to work more closely with our SHS band. They strive to achieve a variety in their routines which include jazz, high kick, prop, marching and novelty. By helping raise spirit at the games, the Jacketteers are a very important part of the basketball season. J. Whltmlre, L. Greer, S. Bowlln, M. King, M. Norton, C. Pitcock, A. Neal, V. Whiting, J. FH FBL UNGEONS DRAGONS Your torch light only permits you to see about 10 feet of the passage that lies ahead of you. The floor is made of smooth stone. The walls have relief carvings on them and upon examina- tion you can see that they depict some type of weird beast. You move about thirty feet and then the passage turns to the right. Cautiously you peer around the corner and in the flickering torch light you can make out a large door. When you move closer you see that it is a heavy oak door with bronze hardware. The door is unlocked so you draw your sword and use its magic to see if it can detect any traps. You sense no traps on or around the door. Next you place your ear to the door and you hear a moaning that rises and then fades away. Now what is your next move . . . This is an example of a fantasy role playing game. Dungeons and Dragons is an exercise in imagination and per- sonal creativity. The organizer of the campaign, the dungeon master, must use the system to devise an individual and unique world. As a role player, you can become a fighter, wizard, or even a thief.
