Step Into Action GIRLS' A-SQUAD BASKETBALL, FRONT ROW, L TO R: Susie Chrest, Judy Bieler, Dana Forcella, Anita Shaw. BACK ROW: Asst. Coach Rob Lott, Manager Erin McMillen, Karol Mark, Julie Kieckbusch, Shelley Tezak, Lisa Shafer, Janet Ostler, Susan Wessel, Coach Kerry Koenig. The 1985 Sheridan girls’ basketball season started with the first practice on August 15. Twen- ty girls showed up for practice looking forward to a fun season with a lot of enthusiasm. The varsity games began with the Panthers traveling to Boulder. After seven non-conference games, the Panthers had a 3-4 record and were ready to start the conference action. They played hard through the conference games and ended up with an 8-2 conference record. The two losses were to Ennis which put Sheridan second in the conference. The junior varsity had a fine season as well. The girls had a rough early start coming out 1 -6 in the first seven games, but as the season rolled on they improved very much. The girls played well and as Coach Lott said, they were the most im- proved team in the league.” Many of the junior varsity players will be back next year ready to help get the Panthers off to a good start. District tournament was exciting and fun. The Panthers played Twin Bridges Friday night and won with a last second shot by Judy Bieler. Satur- day night they met Ennis in the championship game but lost that one, which placed them second for the tournament. The Panthers then traveled to Divisionals in Dillon. There, Sheridan met Drummond and Arlee but lost both games. All-in-all, the girls had a good season and everyone will be back next year with the ex- perience and ability to take the Panthers on to victory! 4
