The junior varsity boys’ basketball season started out slow, but as the season went on the team showed a lot of enthusiasm. The hard work and team effort paid off and they ended up playing good team basketball. The Panthers ended the conference with a record of 5-3 and their total season record was 8-8. The season seemed to end quickly for the Panthers. They were rewarded for all their hard work with a pizza trip to Butte which they really enjoyed. The junior varsity season was a good one and everyone is proud of the way the boys played. Coach Lane would like to thank the boys for a fine season and for a job well done. 25 BOYS' B-SQUAD BASKETBALL, L TO R: Coach Jim Lane. The Sheridan boys' basketball season was very successful. It started out good with the boys enthusiastic and looking forward to a great season. They won seven out of their first eight games which got them ready to start conference action. The Panthers played well throughout the conference even though there were many injuries and lots of sickness. They really showed that they had the energy and drive to keep going even through the rough times. The district tournament was a long one for the Panthers. They played five games in three days and ended up winning the second-place trophy and looking forward to divisionals held in Helena. The Panthers did a good job at divisionals and represented their school well. The first game was very well played. However, all the games they played the week before began to show and they began to look tired. The next two games they played were tough for the team and they ended up losing both but knew they had done a good job. The 1986 basketball season ended the high school careers of four seniors who will be missed but there are the younger players who gained a lot of playing experience and who will be an asset to the team next year.
