Homecoming Happiness Homecoming week started out with enthusiasm as the students participated in spirit week. Each day there was a different dress code. The bonfire was held on Thursday night, the 10th of October. A few cheers were chanted and a Mustang manikin was hung over the fire and burned. The homecoming parade was held Saturday morn- ing, October 12, just a few hours before the big game. The parade was a great success with the freshmen winning the float contest with their theme, Stick it to ’Em. The seniors took second, the juniors third, and the sophomores won honorable mention. The queen candidates and their escorts for 1985 were Erin McMillen and Clint Kemph, freshmen; Joie Bacon and Jessie George, sophomores; Dana Forcella and Andy Qualls, juniors; and Audra Shaw and Shane Escott, seniors. The game started at 1:30 p.m. with the Sheridan Panthers ready to show everyone exactly what they were made of. The Ennis Mustangs came out with their heads high; however, they were just not tough enough to defeat the powerful Panthers. The first half ended with the score 28-0 favoring the Panthers. During the half time our queen candidates and their escorts were chauffeured onto the field and Audra Shaw was crowned our 1985 homecoming queen. When the final gun sounded, the Panthers were ahead of the Mustangs by 42 points, the final score being 48-6. Homecoming week was wrapped up with the dance on Saturday night. The dance was a big suc- cess with Sheridan and Twin Bridges teenagers showing off their stuff on the dance floor.
