The Panthers were proud of beating them (32-22) for that reason. The next week was a tough week of practice for the Panthers were to take on Absarokee. The week was spent trying to work out the dings of the previous game, which wasn't easy. Nonetheless, they were confident that they could win. After a slow start and encouragement from the Panther fans, the Panthers did beat Absarokee (16-8). The spirit of the team was high and it showed in the following week of practice. Their main goal was to keep their prospective. They felt that they could beat Terry, but after the first half things fell apart. It was in the words of several of the players, just one of those days. Terry was a good ball club and took advantage of the Panthers' bad breaks. Nevertheless they were proud of their ac- complishment and will never forget their great year, their coach, nor the members of the 1985 Panther football team. At the beginning of the year, the Panther foot- ball team was optimistic as to what they could ac- complish. They had set a goal to win the district, even before the first game of the season. They knew that they had a good chance and worked harder than ever to achieve their goal. As the teams in the district fell to the mercy of the Pan- thers, they began to wonder what their real poten- tial was. They arrived at the playoffs undefeated and ready to play. The general feeling of the team going into post season play was one of confidence; they had just swept the district and were ready for the playoffs! Their first game was against Superior and they approached them with a nervous confidence knowing they had as good a chance as anyone in the state. They had had a taste of playoff football last year against Big Sandy and so they were ready. Superior was a tough team with good size and quickness which could have put them in the state
