Homecoming Celebrated On September 29, the Sheridan Panthers hosted the Clyde Park Blackbirds in the Panthers’ homecoming game. Andrew Swager led the Pan- thers in rushing with 185 yards on 32 carries and Jared Wright added 94 yards on 13 carries, playing just one half because of illness. Mark Kieckbusch completed 7 of 13 pass attempts for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also threw 4 conversion passes and ran for 1 touchdown. Tom Garrison was the prime receiver with 4 receptions for 103 yards. These four players helped lead the Panthers to a homecoming victory of 58 to 28. The homecoming court con- sisted of freshmen Blain Mortensen and Dianne Christensen, sophomores Bill Kemph and Kim Guinnane, juniors Shane Escott and Angie Pearson, and seniors Justin Rule and Jane Bieler. Jane Bieler was voted the 1984 homecoming queen. Each class in high school, along with the eighth grade, entered a float in the homecoming parade and the eighth grade float was voted the best with their slogan “Bury the Blackbirds.” The special day concluded with a dance to music brought by the students of S.H.S. 22

The spectators had a banging good time with the Seniors’ float! 8. The juniors summed up the outcome of the game with their witty slogan. The Purple Plague Strikes Again! 9.
