Homecoming Highlights Sheridan homecoming activities start- ed off Tuesday, September 28, with Grub Day. Wednesday was Western Day, Thursday was Anything Goes Day and Friday was Purple and White Day. Every- one started out the day on Friday by vo- ting for homecoming King and Queen. They then gathered in the gym for a pep rally. The parade was led by the American Legion Post Number 89. Following them were many grade school entries, plus var- ious floats created by the high school stu- dents and teachers. The SHS Band played the school song, while cheers were chanted by the cheerleaders and girls’ basketball players. In the afternoon, everyone gathered at the football field to watch the Sheridan Panthers defeat the Clyde Park Black- birds 56-12. At the halftime the King and Queen winners were announced; the win- ners were Senior Candidates Flob Birrer and Billie Jo Parsons. Other candidates were: Juniors, Lori Mantz and Dominic Shackleton; Sophomores, Sue Babcock and Tim Dietrich; and Freshmen, Lauri Knapp and Tom Garrison. The Freshmen won the float contest, the Sophomores received third place, the Juniors got second place, and last but not least the Seniors received Flonorable Mention with the theme of “Nothing to It.” The day finished out with the Home- coming Dance. The music was by Tone Productions of Dillon. 20
