Gridiron Action The 1976 football season could be called nothing but successful. The season began with two new coaches and a revised program that led the Panthers to a 5 win, 2 loss record. Head Coach Dean Leary, formerly of Bozeman Rosary, and Assistant Coach Kevin Flynn of W. M. C. were instrumental in forming a winning ball club. The team started a little slow but greatly improved with every game. They managed 3 victories before falling to the Twin Bridges Falcons for their first of 2 losses. Many of the players felt that their success was due partially to double sessions for the first 2 weeks of practice. School support and the community's enthusiasm were also team assets. 1. Rob Miller finds key blockers, Craig Cathey (16), Ed Tezak (27), and Scott Allen (68). Homecoming ’76 Queen Sandy Tezak The rallying began the night of October 7 before the game with a snake dance, bon-fire, and car rally. The sophomores managed to collect the largest pile of boxes for the fire and were awarded a $5 check by the Pep Club for their efforts. School spirit was high as the entire school helped the Panth- ers prepare for their homecoming victory over the Ennis Mustangs on October 8. Sheridan was behind at a deficit of 30-8 late in the third quarter and rallied for a 36-30 victory over the Mustangs. Our 1976 Homecoming festivities proved to be spirited and exciting. 1. Mrs. Kieckbusch looks on as eager sophomores stack the winning pile of boxes for the bon-fire. 2. The fire of school spirit burns bright for the Panthers. 3. Homecoming Royalty.
