FFA Activities The Ruby Valley Chapter of FFA began the 1973-74 year by sending three officers-Jeff Marsh, James Gilman, and Steve Burke and adviser, Dan Lantis to Washington D. C. Summer Conference Program in June. They attended a week of meet- ings and toured the capital city. The chapter had a booth at the Great Falls fair and received $200 for their entry. At the county fair in Twin Bridges, the chapter sold concessions jointly with the Twin Bridges Chapter. During the home foot- ball games, the FFA sponsored a concession stand. In Septem- ber all the officers and the adviser attended an officer train- ing course in Three Forks. The chapter invited chapters of the Southwest District to a livestock judging event at the McGregor Ranch, October 6. Sheridan won the first place team trophy and individual trophies went to Janet and Jeff Marsh, first and second. Dave Hoffman, Mike Stender, Dennis Descheemaeker, Joe Tezak, Dan Dedman, and Mr. Lantis attended the FFA National Convention, October 16-20 in Kansas City, Missouri. October 24-26 Janet Marsh, Jeff Marsh, James Gilman, and Scott Descheemaeker were accompanied by Bob Marsh to Billings where they took part in the NILE livestock judging event. Initiation of greenhands and chapter farmers was No- vember 5 in Twin Bridges, with the Ruby Valley,- Twin Bridges, and Dillon chapters jointly performing the ceremonies. Kelly Elser, Mike Stender, Pete Birrer, and Dennis Descheemaeker attended the Winter Fair in Bozeman January 26. February 16-28 the chapter took part in National FFA Week by putting up posters. The chapter also sponsored a slave auction, where the members worked for a day and gave their earnings to the chapter. Team members from the chap- ter attended the District Convention in Livingston, March 8 and 9. April 5-6 a chapter team took part in the State Convention in Billings where they were involved in various competitive ac- tivities. The year ended with a parent-member banquet where greenhand officers performed the installation of 1974-75 of- ficers.
