The Class of’73 Dedicates This TRAILBLAZER to Mrs. Doris Kitt who was such a vital part of the Sheridan school for thirty-two years. Mrs. Kitt was critically injured October 9, while participating in the school's annual 'S' day and succumbed eight days later at the Columbus Hospital in Great Falls. Mrs. Kitt began her teaching career at Sheridan in 1934 as Miss Weame, resigning her position in 1936 after her marriage to Dr. S. P. Kitt. She returned in 1942 and remained until her death. She instructed English, social studies, French, and music for the high school. Her choruses and ensembles won many awards in district and state music festivals and she conducted annual Christmas programs. Mrs. Kitt was also school librarian and junior class advtter. “My Fair Lady ” I Give Thanks by Mona Jones As I look into the hurt eyes of my classmates, friends, and teachers, I see and know what I have to give thanks for. I have been a part, a small part, of a wonderful and important person's life. I was acquainted with, befriended, and taught by Mrs. Kitt. I am thankful for all the memories I have to cherish of Mrs. Kitt, her ability to understand, not condemn, will always be one of the many wonderful memories I hold of her. The many moments of joy, laughter, sorrow, and learning will stay with me throughout my life. Whenever I was lonely or felt out of place, I could go to her and without a word, I felt important and understood. Whether she knew it or not, I relied on her to teach me what nobody else could. I am thankful that Mrs. Kitt's life was so complete and that she lived it to its fullest, making each day a day to help others. I am also thankful, I shared her gifts of knowledge, music, fun, and love, and I hope somehow to make my life as wonderful as hers was. Who Was She? By Karla Barnosky Who was she? She wras music, the Christmas program, festivals, the band at games, and the little lady you could always count on for entertainment. She was the class projects. The library was her doing, and she could always recommend a good book. She was freshman English--the one who took our daily pranks with pleasure and loved our last minute surprise parties. Always willing to talk, smile, or give a portion of her time, she was appreciated by all. She would have a word of encouragement when things were looking low and gave only constructive criticism. She wasn't ever in a bad mood, but seemed to understand when we were. She was our Mrs. Kitt and we loved her. 2
