Mr. Larry Keller has been a loyal advisor to the Class of '71 these past four years. We've had many 'ups' and many 'downs' in high school, but he stayed with us through it all. There were times when disagreements arose, but he knew that his job was advisor. He could get his point across without coming right out and telling us what to do. Mr. Keller helped us with our many ideas, and also gave us some ideas of his own. We've appreciated all you've helped us with. . . thanks Mr. Keller. Thank You, Mr. Douglas The members of the TRAILBLAZER annual staff would like to show our appreciation to our advisor, Mr. Don Douglas. He bravely took the job of advising the senior class as they diligently worked to put out the 1971 annual. Mr. Douglas attended our many meetings and advised us on the makings of a good annual. Dedication to Mrs. Ruth Bieler The highest of distinctions is service to others. —George VI of England We, the seniors of S. H.S., would like to dedicate this 1971 TRAILBLAZER to Mrs. Ruth Bieler. We would like to express our thanks and appreciation for her many years of service. Mrs Bieler grew up in Sheridan. She attended school in both Sheridan and Brandom. She is also a graduate of Western Montana College in Dillon. After graduating from college, she taught school for three years, two in Virginia City and one in Hardin. Mrs. Bieler was County Superintendent for the Madison Schools for four years, from 1923 to 1926. Serving as Trustee for Sheridan High School for twenty years, she has also been on the School Board for over thirty-six years. Mrs. Bieler succeeded Mr. Brim as school clerk from which she is retiring this year. It gives us pleasure to dedicate this issue of the TRAILBLAZER to Mrs. Bieler. What Is a Secretary She's the office favorite. . . with a key to the front door . . . She's business with a twinkle in her eye . . . She's a secretary. She likes: Considerate people . . . New typewriter ribbons . . . Sharp pencils . . . Fresh carbon paper . . . Tidy desks . . . Calculators that calculate correctly . . . Organization. . . and the school she works for . . . She doesn't like: People on the telephone who merely carry on a conversation . . . Loud salesmen . . . Smudgy carbon paper . . . Students who ask for Mr. Pauli when he's not in . . . and posing for the annual. She's Sheridan High School's Favorite Girl Friday . . . every day of the week.

Realities Aren t There r X i 4 -— I 1 The silver music of a once-existing laugh Still rings occasionally. And even the excited bubbling of a joyful voice resounds. Perhaps they are gone only in stability; Perhaps their essence will remain eternally. A memory as a scampering form hastens by, then is vanished But for a second he will remain As the leaves flutter from his motion. Then silence. An anxious silence, full of bewilderment That brings a softly penetrating sadness. A bright color of life dances near And yet, somehow, there is a light mist before it That is often almost negligible, yet often blinding. A warm flow of words passes by but does not enter. And gentle touches are no felt. Lite goes around in merry unconcerned circles. It dances and it dies. It reaches out and retreats. It laughs to conceal what Cannot be hidden. A dead leaf quietly floats to the ground And a gay step turns it to dust. From Echoes by Mathilde Koehler We know what we feel but we just can't express it. It's not like Keith is dead, it's just like he skipped out today . . . or he's at a track basketball game; like he's not really gone for good.
